Can we burn MP3s to a DVD disc and expect it to play in the RL?

Tried it... doesn't work. DVD-R/+R can't be read in the RL. It will read DVD-A disc, but I don't think you can get blank DVD-A disc.

I found this in the TL's "audio" section. i assume it would work for the RL

It (TL audio forum) sounds like buring/making a music disc into a DVD-R disc and play it as a DVD-A disc...but it's not quite the same as burning MP3 files into a disc. I think mtam08 meant burning MP3 files onto the DVD disc so it can hold hudreds of songs on a single disc.

Hi,
Sorry, yes, that is what I meant....burn straight MP3 format onto a single DVD disc, so that I could hold MANY songs...as opposed to converting them back out to .wav files. If I convert to .wav files, it works back out to be about the same as burning onto a CD.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

If you have an '06 or newer RL, you can play WMA encoded CD's in the player. This will allow you to have roughly twice the number of songs on one CD. My '05 owners manual said that the '05 will do this also, but I found out that the '05 owners manual was wrong. Apparently I was the first one to try to play a WMA encoded CD in an '05. I find this a little hard to believe, as I purchased my '05 RL in December of '05. I would have thought that somebody would have tried this long before I purchased my car, but according to Acura Customer Service, no one else tried. I hope this helps.

Alas, the process of burning eight hundred or so of your favorite songs to a DVD-R won't yield playable results in an RL; I tried it, so I can attest.
Furthermore, if you try the suggestions from the TL forum and burn 80 or 90 songs to a DVD-A in the process described, you end up with a 2-channel disc. Since the RL will not do any dynamic sygnal processing of a DVD-A, it will not artificially generate a rear channel track or subwoofer track or center track, leaving the music sounding a bit flat.
I actually prefer the sound of a CD-R filled with a couple of hundred MP3s, because what processing my 2006 Acura does to the MP3 results in a richer, more car-filling sound than the DVD-A.
There is a system, developed by a fellow who goes by the name of adobeman, that allows you to create synthesized 5.1 tracks from .wav files, then burn them to DVD using a program from circlinca. The result is a tolerable DVD-A that plays in my car and has rear channel, center channel, and subwoofer tracks (although it seems a bit boomier than I'd like).
