There are no tuning adjustments to the Bose Active Noise Cancellation. It works even when the stereo is off.

Keep in mind the current system is tuned to reduce only low end frequencies like 'booming' sounds. It does not address higher pitch noise, common from tire roar.

Apparently the ANC for the 2009 RLs has been tuned to also address the higher frequency noise.

Like the shrieking of potential customers when they see the front end!

(Sorry, I just couldn't resist).

That's a 2 pointer Rob!

And WHERE have you been the last few weeks? Do you have a note?

*swish*

Just coming back after some time off with the missus in the Carribbean.

In a weeklong cruise with stops at several islands, I spotted but one 2G RL parked outside the port in San Juan, Puerto Rico on the last day. I did see a 2G Acura Legend in Grenada, of all places, and one in Aruba (where gas is $5.25 a gallon).

Observation: Cars are so much bigger over here.

Back on topic, I wonder if the updated ANC is in the head unit, sensors, speakers, microphones, or all parts equally. And, of course, will it be possible to upgrade? We've seen that you can add NAV to a base model, why not update the ANC?

I would think it is the actual Bose head unit that received the changes. I cannot imagine it required changes to the mics or speakers. The unit that analyzes the the sound waves and produces the counter sound waves is likely what has changed, if not the firmware it utilizes.

I am curious if the XM upgrades (XMWeather and NavTraffic rerouting) will be an available upgrade.

What ship did you sail, Rob? I worked in that industry for 13 years and sail 8-10 weeks a year still. I will be sailing Alaska for the month of May. Such a dichotomy...I love being at sea....but then I miss my RL.

I was on the Crown Princess.

If we keep talking about cruises, that "other Bob" is going to move us to WOT (way off topic).

I could have used some noise reduction from the folks in the next cabin!
