Backup Camera

Welcome to AZ!
You can't add the Acura backup camera to the 2005 RL as there is apparently a lack of compatible hardware. Many have tried, none have been succesful. This option is only for 2006, when it was an option, and 2007, in which it comes with the tech package with or without CMBS/PAX.
You will have to go aftermarket.

Backup Camera for 05 RL installed
I have a working unit from ...
http://www.gnetcanada.com/navvideo-models.asp#ACURA
It cost about $500 (interface unit and camera) US and works just fine. I got the Audiovox backup camera from Circuit City, but you can also get what looks like an excellent (if not large) camera from G-Net.
Took about 1 hour to install at a cost of $45.00
I am pleased that I now have a b/u camera.

Camera Install
I had a local Audio shop install it. Most of the "guts" reside in the left trunk area under the carpet. I orginally had a Kicker/Sound Gate unit installed by C.City, but the 3 that I had nver worked properly. The G-Net unit works just fine in connjunction with the AudioVox camera which is smaller than the G-Net unit and looks great as you really don't notice it.
