Anoying Ding

Has anyone found a method of eliminating the anoying constant Ding Ding when you open the door at night and the headlights are set to Auto? Acura insists on insulting its customers by reminding them that the door is open and the headlights are on. If the headlights are on, then it is dark and the average human should be able to see if the HID lights are on. If you are getting into the car, it is assumed that the door is open so supplying a Ding Ding is insulting to anybody that has the intelligence to open the door yet alone be able to drive. By the time you have stapped 2 kids in the car seat and started the engine you have been subjected to listening to over a hundred Dings! What was Acura thinking, or am I giving them too much credit?

So I reckon that Acura have solved my problem if I sink another $10K into an 06!

I may be wrong, but thought this was fixed in the '05 with a software update as part of one of the TSBs

Not to my knowledge and I've had all TSB work done and still have it.

I was checking other sites and comments regarding the anoying Ding Ding and it appears that there are hundreds of people who think that this noise is an anoyance. In fact ACS stated that they have had many complaints about it but have not come up with a solution yet. An extremely inadequate response - it's just software and your next visit to the dealer could fix it if enough people complain.

I wonder if it's a dedicated speaker/beeper. Locate it and desolder it. That's what I do with beepers in UPSs and other stuff that's annoyingly loud.

Does anybody know the location of the ding unit. I suspect that it is behind the speedometer but I have no idea how to access it.
