After going through the manual and looking for it on the various menus I do not see an option for Address Book icons. These would be the icons to place on the map where it stays at all times to indicate an address book listing. Does Acura not provide this basic function in their navigation system? For example I would place a certain icon for all of my stores, a different icon for friends, relatives,etc. This way I can get a quick bearing when looking at a zoomed out map of the area. Help when dealing with so many freeways in So Cal.

 

There are no personalized Icons on the NAVI. Only Icons are loaded from the DVD POIs.

Your personalized address book entries are stored in flash memory and not written to the DVD POIs.

 

Perhaps I was not clear , not looking for personalized icons, just icons that would be placed on the map for address book listings. I am accustomed to this will all of my Lexus vehicles, sad that Acura does not offer this.

 

We are speaking of the same functionality.

Example, your HOME location is a personal entry in your address book. It would be nice to select and set an icon on the map for HOME, or "Work" or "Dentist", etc. But the Acura NAVI does not have this functionality. Currently the flash memory does not support this. I can see it being a nice feature, however where you may tag personal address book entries with an map icon. You can however, set way points or route multiple destinations.

I am not sure how the Lexus NAVI system works, but from my experience with our family's Toyota Avalon LTD, the Acura system far exceeds in so many other areas, that this feature, though a nice to have, does not take any shine off the Acura NAVI. But that is how merchandising works, different features to appeal to different people. If all things were always equal, we would be driving the 'Peoples Car'.

 

Thanks, that is pretty much a downer. So far I am a bit disappointed in the Acura nav compared to both of my Lexus's. It does have a few nice features here and there but overall I'm not overly impressed.
Out here is California it is nice to see the icon on a zoomed out map for reference purposes so that I can decide where I want to go next in case I have several destinations.
