Question AcuraLink

Is anyone connected and actively using the RL's AcuraLink feature? If so, would you share your experiences and what cell phone carrier you are using.

Thanks.

I am. Nokia 6103 with t-mobile. I have the t-mobile VPN data plan (unlimited) so that may be the difference. But yeah, it works.

All I've ever done with it, however, is just to connect to the server. It isn't really a useful feature.... but I can connect to the server!

EDIT: Oh, and BTW, the default t-mobile settings do NOT work. I use the AT&T mMode settings, which are just the GPRS default dial string (*99*#) and it works fine.

Yes, using Verizon Wireless. Of course the vehicle hasn't had to use the connection for anything yet, and I hope it never does....

I am connected using Sony Ericson T616 (old AT&T version) on Cingular. It connected ok during the setup test. However, I have never seen an option anywhere to actually use it. There are a couple of errors listed in my Messages log, but no option to connect to Acura, just an option to call my dealer via the phone.

Nope. I got a successful connection when I first paired my phone.

Razr with Cingular.

Yes, this is through AcuraLink, but AcuraLink has two different means of communication, satellite and cellular. I believe this thread is asking about if you have setup the AcuraLink cellular data connection. It's not something you need to have "AcuraLink". It just helps in sending Acura DTC's if a problem arises on your AcuraLink equipped vehicle. Acura can then use these codes to send you back a detailed message about the problem you are experiencing. The cellular data connection can help, but is not a necessity.

Did you manually set yours up? The list of cell phone providers doesn't include Verizon as a listed choice. Unless of course I missed it.

This is like the GM version of Onstar, where if the check engine light comes on you can call and get a diagnosis of the error code. I used it on my Cadillac and all they tell you is that you should take it to the dealer. I think that most people could work that out themselves and save the subscription for the service. Acuralink maybe useless but at least it's free!

Yes it has to be manually setup. Not sure why Acura doesn't have a setup profile for Verizon. As far as I know, all the verizon phones that do work for this, connect the same way.
