active head lights message

Sometimes my left headlight dosn't come on (about every couple months) My diagnostic message says to see my dealer. I tried to clear the message. Does anyone have any idea about the fix to the problem. It is a 2005 Rl

I would see the dealer. Sounds like you need a new lamp tube, but it may be a relay or something else. Wasn't there an issue in the Acura Service News about this some years ago?

See the thread for the bulletins, it MIGHT give you a clue as to whether there is some kind of TSB or other actionable situation that might get you warranty coverage.

Regardless, you still need to the dealer.

I just took my 05 in to an Acura dealer and asked them to look at a similar issue. They stated that bulbs are not a warranty item but they would diagnose the problem for $125. I asked how they diagnosed and they start off by changing the bulb and then they send you away so that YOU can get back to them if it happens again. At this point you have paid for a new bulb, which may or may not be the problem, and $125 for diagnostics that you will be doing for the next few months! I asked if it happens again, do I get my money back for the bulb or do you put the old one back in? Then I stated that as I have diagnosed that it is not the bulb that I would have to charge the dealer $250 for my expertise! Needless to say, they would not go for that but they would then change the igniter/ballast unit which maybe under warranty.
My conclusion is that I will live with the problem, which I have fixed myself by turning the lights off and on again, when this eventuality happens which is, like yourself, only every few weeks or months.
If it gets worse I will attend a different dealer who actually has "customer Service" as part of their business model.
