Hi folks, I'm new to the forum. I bought a 2008 RL with the Compass System (no navigation) but my car has the unit in the trunk with the Disc (V 4.5.4) and power to the unit.

The difference I notice is that in the system control area my upper left button reads "compass" instead of "Map/Guide." My main menu screen has the following options "Trip Computer, Calender, Calculator & Voice Command Help, along with two blanks on the lower & middle right side.

Does anyone know what needs to be done to get the navigation system working here? The hardware seems to be all there and it's powered up.

You need to change the DVD unit in the trunk to one that allows navigation...i have a spare one for sale if you are interested.

Several of us have bought DVD nav units out of totaled cars and have been able to get full feature factory navigation. You won't be able to get NavTraffic, acuralink, and will only be able to add a back-up camera if you purchase a nav unit off of an 06 or newer RL. If you search there is a lot on this web site on this topic.
