2005 upgraded to Navi 4.73A
Just did the upgrade from my original 4.13B Navi in my 2005 to the 4.73A version without any issues. Figured the $149 deal was worth taking.
What I don't recall reading before is that with the upgrade, you actually get 2 DVDs. The 2nd disc is a software upgrade that has to be used if you're on version 4.20B or lower. It performs a software upgrade and THEN you put in the 4.73 disc which does another upgrade.
That first software upgrade may be why others using images of 4.73 are having problems.

Is there a big difference in the two versions? I am still on the original 05 version too and was about to order the upgrade. Just want to make sure it is worth it...

Look on the acuranaviupdate web page to discern the differences between versions. You will find with 4.62/4.64 that there were some real software upgrades, that would be also included in 4.73.
IMHO, the upgrade from a 4.3x or earlier would be very worthwhile, just know you lose the male voice prompts, but everything else seems better.

Look at the bottom of the 4.73 update for the link Prior Updates.
Then you can trace changes from 4.13 forward. Each model (Honda and Acura) car that uses the White DVD system has different software updates in addition to map and POI updates...There are many combinations, so rather than depend on me, look it up for your particular combination of model year and DVD version.
For example:
4.13
For Odyssey, Ridgeline, RL, MDX The 2004 Zagat Survey ratings are available for select restaurants.
Navigation system utilizes Hands Free Link (cell phone) to call POIs, and personal address phone numbers.
For RL Acura-Link Real-time-traffic added and displayed on navigation maps.
For RL, MDX, Odyssey Navigation control of XM audio.
For RL Navigation system can control CD-MP3 player, plays MP3 audio files.
For 4.31
For RL Free flow traffic is now shown as green bands alongside the road, and traffic incidents can be listed either by a voice command or using the "map menu".
For RL, Ridgeline Navigation support added for rear camera accessory
etc.

One reason I waited so long to upgrade is that they never mention my area, maybe even state, in the update list so I'd been holding off. But there are a number of updates to the roads, even to the point where the parking lot roads where I work are now on the map. I've even found one difference between 4.73 and the 4.6x version in my wife's 08 MDX. So I guess the point is there are map changes not listed on the upgrade website.
The daylight savings time fix is there now.
Huge difference between my 2005 version and 4.73 in points of interest. The icons are different, too, notably with more logos of businesses. Probably other changes as well, but I've only used the udpated system to commute back and forth to work I haven't found them.
So I'm happy that I got my money's worth, especially with the discount.

2005 RL, 4.73a upgrade to original software and Nav database
See my post from earlier in the week (no replies yet) I installed the software upgrade as instructed followed by the DVD update and now the Nav traffic doesn't work. It now will only display yellow on both sides of all monitored roads. Has anyone seen this?

You have to start filling in the form, and once you select the year and model number, the price change pops up in the price box as well as an advisory in red that says the price is good until March 15 or so.

I have upgraded twice from the 4.13B and the biggest difference is the bias of blue roads to green ones. I prefer the blue.
Most of the map changes pertain to new housing tracts in states that you will probably never go to with your RL and most of the POI's ammount to .0001% of what you will ever need.
If a new restaurant opens up and you want to try it then it's always too new for the database because the database is always at least a year old. Y the time it gets into the database, the restaurant has closed again!
I am not sure that the number of $$'s is worth it. The disc should cost no more than $25 because there is very little that will pertain to you because rarely do people drive throughout the whole of the USA.
The only method to have the data current is to have the device in the car get data from an online database in real time. This would reduce the amount of data in the car, provide for a single source of data, have real time accessability to current information and a single fee could be charged like the Navtraffic system. Because POI's don't change that fast, it could work because I'm not a great advocate of the resent implementation of the Navtraffic. It is too slow and the only efficient method would be to have a single source of data. Right now there are numerous real time traffic systems and all of them seem to be better than Navtraffic. I have read here that a cell phone gets better info or even local radio.

Just did the update from my original 2005 (4.13).
Like scottj said, update was straightforward. two disks, one to update software first, then put in 4.73 DVD
No problems, but haven't gone anywhere yet. The "fast" traffic is now green instead of blue. Also seems like the traffic flow lines are not as smooth. They seem jagged in some places.

Update: The Navtraffic seems to load differently. Since I ugraded from original 2005, not sure if this is new feature in 4.73 or it occurred in earlier versions. On my original 2005, the traffic loaded all at once. That is, after gps starts up, the flow shows up all at once after about 5 minutes. I could also see it updating every 5 minutes. In the new version, the flow shows up gradually. That is, it will show up in the screen for a few roads, then a fwe more, then a few more until all displayed. And, it starts happenning in less than 5 minutes after startup. Have not observed enough to know how it updates.
The green flow is a much lighter green than I expected. Seems a bit hard to see in daylight.

one more follow-up: not only is the green traffic flow a light pale green, so is the yellow. It is a much paler color than the earlier version. It almost blends in with the background, so difficult to see.

I live in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles but there are plenty of GREEN parks, GREEN golf courses and now we have GREEN roads! The blue roads were so much better. If I go back to 4.13B can I get my money back!

The new flow colors are definitely harder to see. The yellow is actually a pale orange. The red is paler than before as well and if there is no red next to the orange, sometimes hard to know if it is red or orange. Minor gripes though. I wanted the upgrade.
I changed the daylight background color and it helped a bit. The other minor change I forgot to mention is that the start-up screen beeps when it comes up and beeps as it closes if you do not hit OK. Previous was silent.

I was going to order the new disk but then my nav stopped working. When I took it in for service, they are replacing the entire system and it comes with the new disk so yea for warranty!
