Hello All,

I'm seriously considering picking up an 05 TL this weekend and wanted to know if the factory CD changer will support CD-R disks loaded with MP3 files.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback regarding this question.

Assume you mean the RL since your post says TL, but the RL will play CD-R discs loaded with MP3's. It will not play WMA files - I think the manual says that it does but it doesn't. It also will not play a DVD burned with MP3's, even though it can play DVD-A discs. The MP3 discs do not get the great audio processing that the RL does with regular CD's through the Bose system, but they still sound pretty good. I've had good luck with Memorex CD-R's.

I have 4 MP3 discs in my car right now with about 700 songs total.

 

yes, it works fine. I've got 5 mp3 in my car now with about 700 songs on them. It's a work around for not having my ipod. Sounds pretty good to me, much better than the XM sounds.

You can create a MP3 disc with folders. Drag the cd MP3 music folders from your source to your destination. About 5 or 6 discs will fit on a CD in MP3. The RL shows the folders and you can select them individually or choose random folder. The Random folder will randomize every song on the MP3 disc.

 

Yes, I just found this out myself today...not only will an 05 RL play mp3s from a cd-r but the cd player will also display the file and song names, plus the voice will actually say the name of the song (totally unncessary and gets kinda annoying, but seriously, whose car can tell them the name of the song on thier cd?? pretty cool)
