2005 Acura RL and Arctic Blast ???

Live in NJ and we're getting hammered by this cold Arctic air and while driving this morning (8 degrees), i kept hearing a "siren" like noise coming from the car as i approached 40 mph - it would then stop. Happened a few times and since i work about 1.5 miles from home, did not have the opportunity to see if this "siren" noise dissapeared after the car was completely warmed up.

Has this happened to anyone ?

This happened to me last night when I drove home after work. Overnight the car is parked in my garage where the temps have been in the high 30's. After leaving it outside in the parking lot yesterday I heard the noise everyone has referred to for several minutes until the car warmed up. I hope it's not bad for the engine.

Has not happened to me. Your description of a siren like noise is potentially different than a whinining noise. Reminds me of my 87 Legend sedan. There was a TSB on it for a high reed like noise (as in a reed instrument, such as a sax), and it was due to the way the trim around the windshield was attached. It happened at varying speeds, usually above 60, but as low as 40 for me, especially in strong Santa Ana crosswind situations. Scared the heck out of me when it first happened. I doubt that is it, but your siren like noise description triggered that. The whinining description did not.

I doubt that is it, but thought I would mention it.

PS Yes, I used to live in southern California.

Just out of curiosity, you may want to see if you have your AC on (if your climate control is on Auto..then it's on) and shut it. Not on my RL, but I had a VW that used to make that noise in cold weather and it was the AC compressor belt. It would stop once things warmed up.
Just a thought.

NavyDoc333 - I made sure that nothing was on, even shut off the radio as to not confuse this sound with a BMP song. Thanks for the suggestion.........
