09 RL w Nav - Technology Package?

I am looking at the purchase of a 09 RL and it has the factory Navigation unit. Is this what Acura references as a tech package or is this something in addition to the Nav unit? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Navigation pretty much means tech package, you also get backup camera, cooled seats...

There's also one more package called CMBS, it includes the everything in the Tech package PLUS cmbs feature and adaptive cruise. It is mostly recognized by having a button on the lower right spoke of the steering wheel.

I recently purchased a 09 RL and it took me a while to figure out how to tell the different trims apart from each other. You have the Base, Base + Tech Pkg and then Base + Tech + CMBS. It is possible to have the Base trim with just the Nav and not have the tech pkg. The base + nav only will not have the wood trim on the steering wheel and the cooled front seats. The tech pkg gives the heated/cooled seats, nave and the wood trim on steering wheel. And the CMBS will have a third button for the (CMBS off) on the instrument cluster along with the ACC button on the right spoke of the steering wheel. Hope this helps!

Nav in a base...never heard of that one, how do you have a nav without a backup camera? at which point...it's practically tech!

I thought the same thing when I was looking, I assume nav equals tech package but I found a RL at this dealer for what I thought was an excellent price (http://www.tomkadlec.com/used/Acura/...2436fc5929.htm) then I looked closer at the features and realized couple of things, first it's a legit 09 RL but no wood trim on the steering wheel or gear shit, then look at the button to activate the nav... it says compass not Map/Guide as the tech pkg says and look at the seat warmer button, it only says hi heat and low heat, not cooled. Futhermore look at acura's website and go to my acura and then you can find out more specs about the different trims. Choose the 09 RL with tech and cmbs and it will show what's included in the base, tech pkg and tech plus cmbs. i'm using the car in the above link as an example because I almost bought that car.

accident free and salvage cars...that doesn't go together so well...I guess time to run carfax and whatever else...if it was in an accident it might not worth 30k.

All RLs come with a screen in the dash. The base uses this screen for A/C & audio controls and also has a compass feature. However, it does not have the DVD drive in the trunk that allows for the navigation feature. It can easily be upgraded to allow for this though. The base model, from my understanding, was made for consumers in AK and HI who would be out of range of the Acura satellites.

As for your spelling, you can go back and edit a post within 15 minutes of posting it. Still, that was some of the better use of the English language we are used to around here, so don't sweat it.

You mentioned that it is easy to upgrade. What involves here? Do I have to replace the DVD drive with the so-called Nav DVD drive or just simply purchase the NAV DVD disc?
