Unhappy 06 RL Nav Problems

My Nav system seems to have gone south on me. It will calculate a route to a programmed address but the following occurs before and during the trip:

1. There is a 30 to 40 second pause when I press the Map/Guide button before the OK button appears on the screen.

2. I no longer get any voice prompts alerting to upcoming turns and the "Voice" command is grayed-out when I press the Menu or Info buttons.

3. System "recalcutes" despite following the correct route.

4. Screen displays incorrect mileage and time to destination.

Service department needs to keep the car for a few days because they had no idea what was causing the problem.

Anyone else have this problem? Any chance it's just a bad CD?

Sorry to hear.

I would first guess and issue with the DVD, and possible the DVD drive. I guess the simplest test is to replace the disc. If that resolves the issue, I doubt they will replace the disc under warranty.

If it is the DVD drive, that is a warranty item.

Let us know what you find. Aside from dis upgrade issus (as with the current update) I hae not read issues as you descibe with our NAVI. Hopefully it is an isolated occurance.

The NAV disc should be covered under warranty to the same extent that the DVD drive is covered. Just because the disc can be removed doesnt mean its not a part of the factory system.

It might be worth trying a full reload of the NAV system software. This can be done by going to the diagnostic menu by holding the MAP-MENU-CANCEL buttons for about 5 seconds, select "Version" and then "Download". It will take several minutes and won't hurt anything (just don't stop it or turn the car off while it's running). If that doesn't work then it's likely the disc or a hardware issue and would require a trip to the dealer.

Edit: didn't see that you already had it at the dealer.

Tried reloading the software but that didn't help. Same problems. Now I need help getting out of the diagnostic screen. It keeps coming on when I restart the car. What buttons need to be pressed tol stop it?

Looks like I'll have to leave it with the dealer.

Try this from 2007acuraRL. Do the search for "4.62" and there is a whole thread on this sort of problem.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...highlight=4.62

From the '05-'07 Service Manual, Volume 2, page 23-137 it says the following:

Follow the steps below the prevent the ["In Line Diag"] screen from showing up on the future:

* Hold down the buttons (Menu+Map/Guide+Cancel for about 5 seconds (the "Select Diagnosis items" screen will appear).

* Hold down the Map/Guide button for 5-10 seconds (A screen with a "Complete" button, will appear).

* Touch "Complete", and then the "Return" button (the system may re-boot).

* Restart the vehicle and confirm normal operation.

When in the main diagnostic screen, in the upper right corner there should be a button labeled "Return." Use the knob to scroll up to it and select it.

Thanks to all. That worked. Now I hope the dealer knows how to fix the problem.
