My Nav traffic disappeared this week. the traffic bar displays for about 20 minutes then disappears completely. At no time do I get no alerts or traffic flow info.

I've called XM, they say the subscription is fine.

I've reloaded the software with the VERSION command from the diagnostic screen.

When I run the Navigation diagnostic sometimes everything pops up green but frequently the XM and HFL boxes show up red. I run the diagnostic again and they show up green.

I've removed and replaced the fuse. Somehow it worked one day last week after doing much of the above but now no longer seems to be working again. All destination routing works fine.

I have not updated to 4.6.2 but am using last years version.

Any ideas anyone?

Most peope cannot explain how Acuralink/XM/NavTraffic work, nevermind diagnose a problem. As you Service Advisor who the Techy Tech is and speak to him directly, describing the symptoms.

I did describe your problem to my Techy Tech (over a few beers, after the Auto Show) and he said it could be as simple as a short in the XM antenna. But without the car in the shop....who knows?

Thanks for the insight. Hope they have a good Techy Tech at my dealer. I'll give an update once its fixed.

 

The AcruaLink Control Unit was replaced (39820-SJA-325 391RM) and Navtraffic works better than before. The SF Bay area gets populated with Navtraffic info much faster than before.

It was covered under extended warranty (I have 64K miles on the car)
