ZF copy of SH-AWD for BMW

This may be off topic, but since the Honda Legend/Acura RL is the world's first production awd vehicle with torque vectoring....

As reported earlier, BMW is implementing a version of SH-AWD

http://www.motorauthority.com/news/t...-axle-for-bmw/

Audi is working on the same, but I cannot get to that link.

Not surprisingly, there is no actual mention that SH-AWD exists. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

If I remember correctly, this is sort of like VTEC, now something a lot of manufacturers have in one form or another.

Thanks for the update. SH-AWD is amazing. I enjoy how the nose of the car sticks in the corners even with a 2 ton car like the RL.

Toyota has previously mentioned in some informal posts & articles that they only fear Honda when it comes to engineering. For a small car company, Honda knows technology.

SH-AWD will be across the entire Acura line in 2 years. I see like a SH-AWD 2.0 where it becomes rear wheel based and eventually transforming the auto industries take on what AWD can do for car dynamics.

Edmunds did a comparison of the mid-size luxos and the RL had the best slalom times for a car tipping the scales at 2 tons. Top Notch.

600ft slalom. RL (63.7mph), BMW 530xi (62.4), Infiniti M35x(62.2), Audi 3.2 (61.5), Lexus GS300 AWD (61.1)
