XM question
XM question
Since XM is a satellite service, there shouldn't be any dead spots, correct? On my drive to Philly from MD, I lost my XM signal along I95. For a good 50 miles, it was dead. On the way back down, exact same thing happened to me. Also I don't get reception in and around DC. Really frustrating. Does this happen to others? I would think with a satellite, I would get reception everywhere.
You can get loss of satellite signal. The most common way is when you are in a garage when the satellite is effectively out of view. I guess that it is also possible in bad weather, since my DirecTV can get some dropouts in a really bad storm.
It may also be possible that there are holes in the coverage, especially if a satellite goes offline for maintenance.

The only time I have experienced a loss of satellite radio service has been when driving in garages, going under underpasses, passing tall trees or buildings or occasionally when passing trucks. Never in open areas, even during bad whether. I've had XM since 2002 in various setups, including Delphi Sky-Fi, and the antenna on the RL seems to be the least susceptible to "dropouts".
i do the I-95 drive between dc and philly a lot and haven't had any problems at all with the RL or the '04 TL i used to have. i have certain deadspots in sporadic places, but for like a split second. i would have the checked out if it keeps happening...
