WOOT!! New Addition to My Acura Family
As I type, my parents are finishing up the paperwork on a Desert Mist Metallic 2005 RL.

I can't wait to go home and drive it. I negotiated the whole deal for them from across the country and it worked out fantastically. Pictures to come as soon as my parents send them to me tomorrow.

If you don't mind, please fill us on the price you negotiated. What state did they take delivery in?
Steve C.
Congratulations on the new member of your Acura family. Your folks are going to love the Desert Mist Metallic - mine looks great even in between washes. If you got the 18 inch wheels for them, I'd love to see some pics as I'm considering buying them myself.

Plus, I had the added advantage of having worked with this dealer for the 6th time on this deal. This is our 7th Acura and the 6th from this same dealership so we tend to get really good treatment and a lot of breaks. Most people couldn't believe the price I got on my TSX one month after release either.

Honestly, it's not hard to really get a good price on any car. You simply work multiple dealerships simultaneously and know exactly what numbers you want to make the deal happen. I intentionally low-balled the dealerships when I submitted the quote and then told them to come up with the best deal possible. One dealer came back to me with the number of $43,000 and I took it to my dealer of choice and asked them to match it, which they did.

Unfortunately for those who paid list, it appears the RL will not retain its value as did earlier versions. IMOP Acura will loose its loyality base as a result of early deep discounting.
My only complaint with the vehicle is for a 50K vehicle there are too many creaky sounds in the interior cabin, a very common complaint of many owners.
I did go against my policy of buying the 1st year model and consequently am
expieriencing the unexpected.
Again,
congrats and best wishes.
"Many owners" eh? Well, my Acura RL is as tight as a drum and the new one I just got for my family is just as tight. Don't have any figures to spout here, but the one friends bought a few months ago has no creaks, groans or rattles either.
Hope you are wrong about "many owners" having such problems. But I have no statistics to offer other than the three purchases noted above.
Still, three silent RLs out of three certainly isn't bad.

CGTSX2004, do you think you can negoitate a decent trade in value on my CL

Hmm...If I can get $20K on the CL, 43 for an RL... I'd only have to come up with a 23K down payment...

Yes, the $43,000 included everything. That was the final sale price.

Now that June 1st is just about here, I will likely start the process in earnest and see what I can come up with. Steve C is in the same area (Westchester County, NY) and we are hearing $45k and up.
Obviously pretty good, but NOT as good. I figure if I work a few dealers well into June and the month is nearing an end, they may be more apt to deal and I will have all my ducks in a row. We'll see...Enjoy the car and post some pics...

And no, there were no dealer incentives. Again, partly it was timing (Memorial Day weekend is always good for deals on cars), partly dealership preference (my family has 5 previous Acuras from this dealership), partly negotiations (I knew exactly the price my parents were willing to pay and I offered that to the dealers, worked all the numbers ahead of time so I knew if a dealer was BSing me or not) and partly luck. The $599 lease deal is absolutely ridiculous because it supposes a fairly high money factor.

It is not a formal special, but the dealers seem to have a lot of discretion on this topic. The great deals are good and bad-good for us buyers, but bad for the future value of the car if it is not just a regional anomaly.
I really think the lowest prices are limited to the SoCal area because even just looking at the numbers in the sign in thread, the more recent purchases don't look like they are coming close to the price in other regions of the country.
