Wood steering wheel question.

Does anyone know where i can get a wood steering wheel for the 06 Rl- black at a good price. Also does it make a big difference in the feel compared to the factory installed one.

Thanks.

Yes, it's got a nice feel, one I think is better than the regular leather wheel. This was an excellent upgrade to my car, one that I appreciate on the daily drive.

It provides multiple hand positions and much better grip than the stock wheel. This is the standard steering wheel "grip" design used in most high performance cars.

Best. Interior. Upgrade. Ever.

Maybe I'm overstating, but the ploodie wheel not only made the car more pleasant to drive, it looked good too.

It was a bit of a gamble, because my only prior experience with a wood steering wheel was driving my father-in-law's RX300, and it was not favorable. That one was too thick and not pleasant to hold. The RL wheel fits the bill perfectly.

I wonder if we could get a vendor to setup a group buy... Lots of new members here and I want one too.

Park Acura Quoted me $395.27 plus shipping (around 412) brand new. If we get enough members I can talk to the parts guy I deal with and see if he can lower the price. He's done other group buys before for us.

I have both and they both have a different feeling that i like. The air leather helps when your hands sweat out.

Question... if you were to buy one on ebay, what would dealer charge to install it? By the time you pay separate for wheel and installation, would it be better to just do it at a dealer? what kind of deal are you guys getting from dealers?

dealer install price is supposed to be $110. you can actually go to acura.com then on the bottom right click on "acura store" then enter your zip code. then enter either you vin or year/make/model. when you choose whatever accessory you want, it will show you list price plus list install. my dealer shows $220 for the install lol, if I choose a different dealer thats 20 minutes further, the price comes out to $123 for labor.

yeah, just read the post right above your last one. thats why i took the time to create that post. you can find a local dealer near you and get a price for the wheel seperately, and the wheel plus labor. prices are usually 750-850 installed (dealer price for the wheel alone will be like 550-650, much higher than buying online).

Looking at ebay links... looks like steering wheel that's posted is for non-tech. Where can I find one that has AFS buttons included?

No because it doesn't even have space pre-cut for the AFS buttons. (two buttons on the bottom right) I think they have another model # for it but can't find it.

you can get them on eBay for 389-410 which is way below retail price, so I doubt a group buy would be any cheaper. if so, I too would participate since I'm about to buy one anyway

The big problem with the group buy is that our OEM sponsor is here in CA. Any CA members in on the group buy would have to pay sales tax (9.75%) which would certainly eat up a bulk of the savings over the eBay price.

$150, w/ shift knob, called around, pulled from another RL, installed myself.... "rent" steering wheel puller from Advance Autopart, get torque wrench with T20 security bit, and a screw driver.... that's it.... super easy!

I already mentioned that the dealer I use in Ohio has them for $395. I am asking him today about a group buy price. Will keep everyone posted.

How about we put together a list and see what the discount is going to be. If 7 is the magic number for the next level of discount, some others may jump on.
