Wiper upgrade/TSB

Anyone have their Dealer perform the wiper upgrade/TSB yet? I just did and think it made a big difference in the wipers' effectiveness at highway speeds. There's also a modified wiper arm (driver's side) that includes and "air foil" for more downward force. Pretty cool!

I had this done, and am glad I did. We had a pretty wet season in SoCal so it was worth it.

What are the odds of a dealer doing this on a car out of warranty?

is this a TSB? so if my car lacks this they will do it for free / under warranty?

I just checked my car and I do NOT have those.... does it look good on the RL... hard to tell in those closeup pics...

my Porsche has a wing on teh driver's wiper though..so maybe it is a "cool" thing to have.. if the POrsche has it..it must be good.

Yes, it's a TSB. The TSB can be viewed from this site, but doesn't have part numbers for the new items. It might be helpful if you are going to ask the Dealer about it. Here's another pic that was taken from further away.

All,

A little bit of help...

I noticed that on my '05 RL when I have my wiper on High and I am driving at high speeds on the highway, the wipers tend to hit the bottom area where they sit very hard. They make a loud sound. It only happens when I am driving at high speeds and I have the wiper speed on high, but it is a very annoying and loud sound slamming at the bottom of the windshield.

Do you think this TSB is the cause?

Thanks

i'll try mine and let you know if i hear it. perhaps the dealer didn't install/align the blades properly. that would be my guess.

no thump/bump noise from mine. even at high speeds.

i told them the wipers weren't doing an acceptable job on the highway (ie., they were lifting off the windshield at highway speed) and leaving a film of water. i brought the TBS with me and "asked" if they thought this would help. so from that point, it was THEIR idea to do it.

i can't imagine you'd have a problem asking specifically for it. btw, my dealer left off about five panel snaps (under the hood) when they were done. you might want to review their work before you leave the service depart.

Thanks for testing your car out. I will take this TSB with me to the dealer next time and see if the two are related.
