Windshield wiper inserts - question

with all the rain we've had in So cal - I noticed my wiper blades could use some replacing...

any of you go to aftermarket or just stay OEM? the blade arms look to be very "unique" and mount up to the wiper arms such that I can't imagein any aftermarket setup would look as good or fit right...

my dealer said the will put in new inserts for me at $7 each... soudns liek the way to go unless you all know something I don't...

on an "similar" note.. not RL, but Acura related".. I bought some generic inserts for my wife's MDX..and they look funny on her car.. the whole assembly pops on easily but it's all plastic vs the OEM setup being metal..

i may just have hers done at the dealer too... also... on her wiper arm there is a little "cutout" that the blade needs to recess up into - so that it stays fixed in place while moving..and the generic one I got at Costco (goodyear) is too fat to fit in it...

Merry Christmas!!

I personally like to use aftermarket wipe blade inserts from PIAA. They seem to perform better than the OEM Acura stuff and last longer in ANY weather.

Replacement takes less than 5 minutes per side and you need a screw driver (to remove the wiper blade and install later).

You can get PIAA inserts from here:

I think you need a 28" and 19" refill. Double check on that.

Just put my PIAA's on the other day and boy are they great. Much much better than factory and less money too. I didn't take the wiper arms off either, just slid the old one right out and the new one in, very simple.

Hello Guys where can i purchase the PAA inserts you speak of? I tried tire rack but they don't have anything for the Rl.

Happy Holiday.

they do but not exactly. You have to find a car with similar size inserts as yours and order it that way. Don't ask...but it gets the job done.

I just replaced the blades on my '05 RL. I replaced the blades only with Honda blades for a '03 Insight for the smaller and a Insight blade for the larger one. $15 bucks out the door and you can't beat the honda quality

You can beat the Honda quality, with the PIAA inserts, they are much better.

the screws are under the little plastic cover plate. I removed one side like that but you really don't need to. also not worth breaking the plastic piece.

I just "parked" the wipers straight up and down by turning off the ignition with wipers on. Then just squeeze and twist the top end of the old refill until it pops loose. you will see two metal prongs that go into a little hole on each side of the refill. It just slides right out the top then.
very simple and quick change.

Thanks jeffL. I had some funky blades on the car so I needed to remove them from the car to change out. Now I just need to wait for the rain tomorrow and see how they perform. Again, many thanks.
