Windshield Wiper Arms
Windshield Wiper Arms
For some reason both windshield wiper arms on my '05 RL will not go all the way down when not turned on. This started the other day when it snowed, but the snow and ice has since melted, so I don't think there is anything blocking them from going all the way down. I've tried to check them (shake them a little) but didn't want to do any further damage.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

There is a "winter" position for the wipers which is raised a bit from the normal parked position for the specific purpose of keeping them out of the snow and ice that can accumulate at the bottom of the windshield. As long as there is nothing blocking them, just take both and gently pushe them down to the normal position. You'll feel them move into place. Move them up again and feel them "lock" into the winter position so you have an idea of how it works. Yours probably locked in winter on their own due to the accumulation below them.

But the manual, which you can get pdf through Acura OwnerLink, if not in your glove compartment, is better.
Wiper Arm Positions
The windshield wiper arms have two
parked positions: winter and summer.
In the winter position, the arms sit
slightly above the edge of the hood.
This reduces the possibility of
damage to the wiper arms or
windshield wiper motor by a build-up
of snow and ice.
A heavy build-up of snow or ice on
the wiper arms will cause them to
automatically park in the winter
position.
Adjust the wiper arms to the winter
position by holding both arms as
shown in the illustration at the same
time. Pull on the arm, parallel to the
windshield, until it locks in the
higher position.
To return to the summer position,
push the same area of both arms the
other direction.
