Windshield - Rock at high speed

This evening I got an email from my mom with 3 photos followed by another with 3 more.

Is this covered by full glass insurance? I'd hate to have to pay for a new windshield if this thing starts crawling.

That was supposed to be my brother's head I guess...my car saved it for me.

That looks like winshield needs to be replaced. Typically all glass damage are covered without deductible. However your best bet would be to call and verify with your agent or check your policy documents.

P.S.: Instead of the generic glass that insurance recommended shop might suggest, ask for OEM windshield for a perfect match...

I second the above P.S., especially since one of the changes for 09 was special acoustic glass in the windshield for noise reduction. Somewhere I read that Acura sandwiches a layer of liquid methanol between the glass panes in addition to the plastic to achieve this.

just spoke with Geico, glass repair is covered auto in NY and replacement is free if you got full glass coverage, which I do.

I will go get it fixed at Safe Lite on Sat.

I was pretty sure RL had some special glass as judging by the depth that should have went straight through at highway speeds on any other car.

Will keep you guys posted.

Depends on the state you live in. Many states do not cover glass with no deductible. Some states it is mandatory. Good to see the little lizard is taking care of you. Need it in NY.

$120? Gheesh, that is very cheap, why even bother on a claim. Last windshield I bought I had to pay out $1100, rain repellent, rain sensor, etc.
