Window tinting in Hudson Valley NY or NNJ
Can anyone recommend a good shop in the NY Hudson Valley area or Northern New Jersey for window tinting? I have an 05 RL and I think I read somewhere to make sure they put something in the molding to stop scratching... Any recommendations for material type and % tints would be helpful to as I have minimal experience with tint. Thanks!

Do not use metallic based window tints. Dye based and ceramic should be OK, but always check with the manufacturer and your installer.
From the November 2006 Acura Service News
Navigation System Doesn’t
Map Match or Gets Lost
NOTE: This article applies to ’96–04 3.5RLs, ’05–07
RLs, ’04–07 TLs, and ’04–07 TSXs.
If the navigation system doesn’t map match or it’s
not showing the vehicle position icon correctly,
check to see if the rear window has aftermarket
window tint. Since the GPS antenna is under the
rear shelf, window tint with metallic content can
curb the antenna’s ability to receive the GPS
satellite transmissions needed for navigation.
If there’s no aftermarket window tint on the rear
window, refer to the Body Electrical section of the
applicable S/M and check for a vehicle speed
pulse (VSP). Then do the troubleshooting for
“Vehicle position does not move on the map.”

I cannot speak for the 09, but the shark fin on the 05-06 was for the OnStar system for sure. Unclear if anyone ever confirmed it was for XM also. I have read that the GPS and XM are supposed to be under the rear package shelf, and that the XM antenna may be embedded in the rear glass, which explains the 07.
In the 07, when the OnStar was dropped, some had the shark fin and some did not. The explanation I got was that those with the shark fin were simply those produced before they pulled the OnStar. I think it worked out that the base model got the shark fin and the Tech and CMBS did not, and since they were always equipped with XM, that would support the statement that XM antenna was embedded in the glass or under the shelf.
With the 2008, the shark fin seemed to make a comeback. It still seems to be there on the 2009. I have never read anywhere what the function is of the shark fin for the 08 or 09.
Help anyone?
