Window problem

My passenger window is not working properly. It was fully open, then when i auto close it, it lifts slowly a few inches up then rolls back down. I held it with both hand palms until half way, then it goes back down a few inches and stops. I finally click 'up' again and lifted it to closing using both hand palms.

I tried before holding down the switch for 5 seconds in either direction, that isn't changing anything.

Any ideas?

sounds like you are not performing the window reset properly.

can you control the passenger window from the passenger side?

Yes I was trying to reset from there.

It feels as if its having difficulty lifting up, then quickly going back down on its own as a result...

Reset procedure is hold button down (on affected door) until all the way down + 5 seconds. Then hold up until all the way up + 5 seconds.

If that doesn't work, see if you can get it to go up without enabling the auto function. There are two thresholds to activate the switch, and the first one doesn't enable the auto function. If that doesn't operate or feel right, my guess is your motor is toast or the window got off track. Fixing that would require the interior panel to come off. titomang's DIY power folding mirror write up has the details for that. Just be aware that pulling the panel off doesn't give you much more access that what you have now (none). There is sheet metal that covers a lot of the door area which the window behind.

It also coincided with electrical stuff that were present prior to battery change.

While I was trying to reset the window, and trying to lower it and lifting it with the switch. those airbag and cmbs lights came on. Other windows are normal.

Could there be less current sent to the passenger window for some reason?

Is the car on? If so sounds like you have an alternator /voltage regulator problem. Using Windows causes a voltage drop and the regulator not working properly causes too low voltage in the system overall and causes odd lights to come on.

Might be time for a new alternator.

I went to take a closer look. I think it's either out of alignment, or the rubber got dry in the cold if that's possible? The rubber seems to be lifting up on the bottom corner as the window starts going up.

Towards the top of the rail, the rubber expands outwards as the window lifts.

Could the electrical symptoms be caused by an overload given the window gets stuck through the rubber?

Any ideas what causes the window to get out of place like that? and the rubber all messed up?

My drivers side window does this. Not all the time though. It happens almost all the time when all 4 windows are down and I go to auto roll them up at the same time. All other windows will go all the way up, but the drivers side goes up a little and then back down. Or if I have all my windows half way down and go to auto up, the rest go all the way up, the drivers side goes almost all the way up, and then back to half way. However, some times it works perfectly fine. It's really a PITA.

Just haven't had time to dig into it too much. I know the window reset procedure didn't fix my issue

Does the rubber along the up-down side rail bulge out as the window lifts?

^push the rubber seal back in.
to install the rubber seal, all you do is wedge or push it in. very simple. you can even pull it out even more to give you a little slack if needed, then just wedge or push in.

Sounds like it could be the seal and the window detects the pressure and as a safety measure it stops and rolls back down thinking its an obstruction?

Yes, it does look like it slows down, and decides to go back down a bit and stops.

That rubber is the seal? I'm a bit weary still to pull it out and re-aligning it. Don't wanna mess it up and have to keep the car in the garage till i figure it out.

Is this real easy? Will i have to pull the door panel to do it?

If you're weary, try coffee.

brotherman, just try. it's literally stuffing the seal back into place

if scared of removing, then dont remove and just stuff it in.

It's rubbing against something below the visible area inside the door and causing that part above on the side rail to come off out of place. But the cause, seems to be below on the inside..

The cause of this problem was dry rubber. Due to change of weather.

You spray some lubricant on the rubber and it's all fine.

2006 Acura RL (Window not going down)

I have a 2006 Acura RL SH AWD and somehow my both front and rear left side window does not go down. I went on youtube and got some help, but I just got the rear window working. And they only spoke about the rear windows which was great. Can you help me with the front driver side. I check the fuses and it's good. What can I do?

Did you do the reset process as mentioned in your other post thread?

Reset process has to be done on each window separately.
