Who has done a repaint or wrap of the wood grain trim?

Hi - New to Acurazine but not forums or cars. Hopefully it hasn't been beaten to death and I didn't hit the right search combo, but I'm curious if any of you have customized your interiors.

My newly-purchased 05 RL is white over tan/brown with the wood grain beltline. In searching for customizing, I found some pics of cars with dark interiors where the owners wrapped the wood trim in carbon fiber or aluminum-look vinyl. With the lighter tan/brown vinyl, I don't think either of those would flow well. Have any of you wrapped or painted the wood trim in this color interior? If so, what look did you go with?

I haven't seen anyone do it, maybe this would be a great DIY opportunity for you! I'd imagine, and I'm guessing here, that any shop that does automotive interiors should have some information on how to do this.

Didn't perform on this car but was done on an another and with CF look and the process is time consuming and sometimes tedious but not hard. When it was done while the job was good I was unimpressed with the look in the car it didn't blend and bought a rare wood trim instead which looks effin amazing. Coincidentally the wood is also black and called black birch

I would DIY it if I do it (I've done a lot of interior work with wraps and dyes). It's tough choosing a wrap finish for a tan interior so it may have to wait until I start changing or dyeing the interior, or I may just skip the idea. The amount of free time I can work into my schedule will determine it.

I remember seeing that you dyed some inserts on your prior(?) cars, it was nice work! Definitely curious to see what you do here.

Your interior looks clean and SHARP!! That shade of tan SCREAMS Porsche or Ferrari to me. I don't know why but it just does.

Edit: Wait a minute, that's a BMW! Thought it was an RL for a bit there.

I am considering painting the woodgrain with tinted paint that we use for tail lights

or wrapping it in tinted headlight film

Actually that spray tint isn't a bad idea - it might somewhat replicate the dark wood trim in my MDX.

The E39 wrap looks terrific. I did that in my MSport as well using a textured brushed titanium vinyl to cover the wood and part of the wheel trim, to sport up the interior a bit.
