What do you think?

OK,

After a long search looking for a new car we are going for the RL. The M45 is nice, but not 10K nicer.

Anyway, I'm going to try and work a deal on a new black/tan RL.

This is what I'm thinking from reading this forum. Let me know what you think.

RL w/ 40K
(Cargo Net, Floor Mats)

Wood shift Knob 40.00

Wood Steering Wheel 375.00

Deck Lid 275.00

18" Wheels Chromed 1400.00

Pirelli tires 1000.00

Will buy the car for $ 43,000.00

Anyone think I'm on track??

** Not sure the back up sensors are worth $600.00. What do you think?)

$43,400 w/ the senors?

Just talking to them after returning the car for an overnight test drive they said they were at 46,500. That price didn't include the deck lid.

Told them I read someone bought there RL for 42K. The new guy said that was a heck of a deal and below there invoice. I have lowered my price to 40K now that I read some dealers are selling them for that price. I think they have 10 - 12 05 RL's on the lot.

Thanks in advance.

There is a $2500 cash back manufacturer-dealer incentive on purchases. So, below their invoice shouldn't be a big problem. There is another thread in this forum with more info if you search around.

You want them to sell you the RL at 41k before adding the extras? That seems a little low.

I can only hope that whatever industry you are in that you get low-balled by a customer and lose money on it.

I would personally not want anyone to lose money when selling me something, I think the $2500 incentive has enabled dealers who were previously selling cars for invoice to get down to about $41,500 give or take a couple hundred dollars. The invoice is just under $44k. They are still making money on the holdback.
Also, a deal with all of those accessories gives the dealer more of a chance to make money on the accessories themselves. I would think that could possibly make them more willing to show the buyer a bigger discount on the car and make up a few hundred on the extras.

Rob,

You must be a sales person to make a crap remark like that. Get a job!

I came up with the numbers by looking at other threads on this forum. If you will read what I posted you will see that I'm at 40K not 41K. That number is based on the 40K someone posted dealers are selling them for.

So, with that I posted my thread to see if I was off base or in the ball park on what to offer.

Don't be such a jerk

Actually, most of the RL numbers, especially the ones where you are seeing $40k are actually based off of leases. They will list the vehicle for that price and lease it to you. Don't expect to see such phenomenal numbers on a buy.

On a lease, the dealership makes the money from the financing involved. On a buy, they are going to be much less inclined to go below their invoice cost, especially nearly $2.5k below invoice.

I would say that you're probably low balling the dealership by an awful lot at this point so you most likely won't be able to make those numbers work. Even I was only able to get a dealer to do $43k and I haven't seen any actual purchase numbers below that as of yet.

CGTSX,

Thanks for the reply. That is the kind of information I'm looking for.

So, if I could start at a price of 41.5 - 42K and add 3K worth of "stuff" then I'm at 44.5 - 45K.

Anyone made a deal close to that?

That's interesting info that I wasn't aware of. My own experience is based on a lease. If this info is correct, perhaps someone who actually bought their RL recently can chime in at this point.

Carsdirect is quoting $42K and change. You should have no trouble getting the car for less than $43 without extras. With extras it'll be more. Provided there are RLs available etc etc.

"Acura of Downey, CA is sending out e-mails for internet pricing of $39,988 for an '05 RL."

I got that from the $2,500 incentive plan thread on this forum.

Anyone know if it's true?

Its all about supply and demand. The demand is simply NOT there for Acura to charge $43+ for this car! I knew this would happen, those who paid near MSRP early on are rightfully pissed.

There is a new thread telling of a new RL advertised for $39.8: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1035

I agree. I am actually kind mad at myself for not waiting 2 months and driving a loaner car or something. I knew the prices would drop more closer to the end of the model year - I could have saved 2-3 thousand dollars if I had waited, or gotten all the accessories I wanted in that price range.

OK,

I just got back from getting the car. $41K.

I offered 41K and they didn't even counter.

I'm sure I left 1K on the table, but what the heck.

Nice car, pretty good sales person, fin. guy pissed me off. He got me to fill an app. out and never lowered the rate, told him I wanted the app. back and he told me it had to stay after I signed it. I let him know what I thought about that and he gave it back to me.

Will post more later.
