Wet FOB? - WD40!

This tip I took from someone on this forum but wanted to repost to verify.

I accidentally washed my pants with my fob in the pocket and it was completely soaked. the 2008 ACURA RL water seal just wasn't strong enough for these Pocono waters.

So took it apart, riced it (put it in rice, no dice), hair dried (no dice)

so i took the whole thing a part, sprayed it with WD 40 (circuit board and all). Waited a few hours for it to dry...and now it works good as new.

Love this board.

I understood one had to be careful spraying WD40 onto electronics - it can melt coatings & stuff?

Not sure it would melt anything, but i make sure to take out the batteries and thoroughly dry the circuit board before

Printed on the can, it says that it can be used to clean and protect. I have used it before on road tar stuck to the front bumper of cars. I've never heard of it being corrosive.
