I experience a slight but very annoying vibration somewhere around 1600RPM regardless of speed, when accelerating (2006 RL with about 106k kms). It is very noticeable on the steering wheel and I can clearly feel/hear it from the driver seat. This vibration is not present at any other RPM and it does not exist if in neutral/park when revving at the 1600 RPM. It is very frustrating as most of my driving is in the city and around 1600RPMs. I did report this to dealer numerous times, but apparently dealership could not do anything about it even though I have AcuraCare extended warranty. Is anyone else experiencing similar vibration? Could it be related to torque converter problem I read about recently at this forum? Thanks in advance for your help.

 

Possible transmission shudder? There is a recall on the 1G MDXs for the same thing, but I haven't seen anything for the RLs yet.

 

sounds like your torque converter is going bad. Just had mine replaced, search the board for the symptoms.

 

Have you done a trans fluid change? This may help; its at least worth a shot (and probably a recommended maintenance at your mileage).

 

It was changed before about 20K km, approx at 85K kms. I haven't noticed any improvements immediately after it was changed - pretty much the same vibration and noise as right now...

 

kinda sounds like the description of a loose heat sheild to me
