Thumbs up Up 67.9% for Oct -- RL is on a Roll (relatively)

11/03/2010

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted October sales of 98,811 vehicles, an increase of 19.8% based on the daily selling rate*, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 1,011,247, an increase of 5.1% versus last year based on the daily selling rate.

Honda Division posted October sales of 87,800, an increase of 20.2% versus last year. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model for the month with sales of 24,344, up 8.8%, followed by the CR-V with sales of 18,040, up 19.4%, and the Civic with sales of 17,121, up 11.9%. The availability of the all-new 2011 Odyssey, in its 1st full month on the market, contributed to that model’s increase of 52.2% for a total of 9,955. Overall, Honda Division light-truck sales increased 37.8% to 41,463.

"The all-new Odyssey is off to a strong start in its first full month on the market," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "The redesigned minivan brings the right balance of functionality, upscale features and fuel economy, just as the light-truck segment begins to gain momentum."

Acura Division posted October sales of 11,011, an increase of 17.1% versus October 2009, and year-to-date sales reached 107,399, an increase of 25.3%. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 3,945, up 6.7%. Acura TL sales totaled 3,042, up 25.6%, followed by the TSX with sales of 2,251, up 1.6%.

*The daily selling rate (DSR) is calculated with 27 days for October 2010 and 28 days for October 2009. Year-to-date, the DSR is calculated with 255 days for 2010 and 257 days for 2009. All percentages reflect DSR.

I wonder if the dealers are sweetening the pie and offering special deals to move the cars, or people are just wanting a new RL. Either way, its an improvement.

What is with the 'We'? Someone swooned for the Siren of Torque and ditched the RL like a trophy for Perfect Attendance to the company bowling league.

And being a 'Super Moderator' does not enable you to smooth those sharp angles of a CTS-V into the mirror finished lustrous curves of an RL. In fact I can think of two other 'Super'' titles. One is 'Super Genius' who has an unfortunate predisposition for anvils landing on his head. The other is followed by 'Duper Poopy Scooper' and spends the profession following the elephant parade in a circus with a shovel and trash bin.

So if I may summarize your resume...... FORMER RL OWNER SHOVELs SH*T WHILE ANVILS LAND ON HIS HEAD.

Have you learned anything from this? my ass.
*ducking*

Talking Ummm ...

I sincerely hope that the above was supposed to @ least be partly in red ink ...

Anyhooooooooooooooooooooooooo ... trying to get this back on topic: I hope that the increase sales translates to me seeing more of them in the wild. It took 5 years before I saw the 2005-2008 models on the road on a regular basis but I can probably count on both hands how many 2009-2010 models I have seen.

Seems like I am in the minority but I like the way the refreshed RL looks, especially from the back. The dagger pointy tail lights, the hexagonal exhausts & even that chrome strip (not sure about the reverse lights in them tho ....).

Don't worry TSX, Tampa means well. And I like the post-MMC RL, too, other than the tacked-on nose.

Here's to more RLs sold in the future! And bring on Dual-Note or something like it for the next RL....
