Uncomfortable Seats

heelo gang,

One thing that stops making my 08 RL the perfect car is the uncomfortable front seats.

I'm a big guy at 6,2 200 lbs and been trying all sorts of back pillows and cushions for the seat but nothing really does the trick.

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this situation? For contrast I also have a 2005 MDX and I'm fine in those seats .

Appreciate the help,

Have you tried playing with the lumbar support?

Strange as I’m 6ft 4 and just under 260 and mine are fine in my 05 RL, as are the seats in my 08 MDX. Possibly the foam structure is broken down somewhat and not supporting you as it should?

Strange, I’ve have bigger (no offense) people say the seats in the car are comfortable... It’s possible the foam has broken down?

I'm 6-1, 230 and I have no issue with the seats. I especially love how the headrest is split so I can have it lightly touch the back of my head without leaning all the way back. Have you tried all the adjustments, lumbar, angles, etc?

Have you tried making sure you are sitting as upright as possible with butt all the way back in seat? Legs 90 degrees from back, as close to parallel with road as possible? Seat as as forward as possible so there is zero reaching for wheel?

Seems like everyone I know thinks "comfort" is with the seat back as FAR DOWN/LEANED as they can get it, and as FAR BACK as they can get it, and still see the road and reach the steering wheel and pedals. Totally horrible posture. A car seat is not a la-z-boy recliner. Their back end up looking like a U as they unconsciously lean their shoulder forward to get to the wheel.

Not trying to imply you don't know how to sit on a seat or be condescending ... maybe riding the edge there, but I mean it in a trying to be helpful way just in case. I think in our 20's and early 30's this works but as I hit 35-40+ actually paying attention and sitting in car in a way that I never would have when I was 28 makes a world of difference.

I am 6.03' and 220lb and did not really mind how comfortable seats were before. Now, because of the leather ripping over time, I had my seats re-upholstered, and the shop did new padding.
Comfort in my RL seats is superior to 99% of cars. Only car so far I was able to enjoy better seat comfort was 2017 MDX Advance loaner I got at the dealer for couple of days.

Maybe it is time for you to add some good pading... if your leather is ok, shops can take it off, add good pading, put leather back on it and call it a day... good luck whatever you decide.

This is something I've considered, but I always thought it would be too expensive. Maybe I should give it another look. Did you have your's done at the dealership?

It was not at the dealers... Someone recommended the shop here I believe, projectvrx I think... Here is the shop:
https://m.yelp.com/biz/auto-interiors-and-design-lake-bluff

He charged me $1000 to replace following:
Driver seat, bottom middle, back middle- matching perforated leather with all new padding plus some more padding added
Passenger seat, bottom middle- matching perforated leather with new padding as well, plus added padding as well for extra comfort.
Both front doors inserts - due to bubbling (leatherette)
Arm-rest inserts (bubbling as well)
