Mounts....
What is it with Acura making shitty mounts? This is my second Acura and the mounts are always breaking.
I have to replace the rear mount and the transmission mount.
Anyone knows of another brand of mounts I can get beside OEM?

I just checked the website, but it doesn't look like they have it...

The most frustrating thing about owning a car with such a small following is the lack of aftermarket parts. Oh well, looks like Honda should add motor mounts to the list of parts to improve upon for future models.

guys - motor mounts should wear out.. at least that's my opinion. they are wear items..
my boxter went through motor mounts too... the motor moves/vibrates... instead of YOU feeling it and your car shaking, etc.. the mounts take the abuse. after time they wear out and give...
everythign on a car ultimately wears out.. but the mounts are not supposed to last forever...
the main engine mount on my boxster broke by 50k miles... they all do. that's not just my car..all oft hem do that... the acura is no boxster...but the concept remains..the mount takes some abuse..
we can debate if they should go bad so quickly.. or if that many shoudl go bad...but ti's not the same thing as say a door handle falling off... one is defective..one is just perhaps "premature" failure...

Be careful of aftermarket mounts. Manytimes, they are stiffer, and the attendant NVH becomes unacceptable. Rode in an RSX with illegal headers and exhaust, and I remarked at how rough things had gotten...He said, yea, I should not have put in those stiff motor mounts, I am going to put back stock because the GF is always complaining...

I don't get it. These are components designed to give the RL a plush, refined and smooth driving experience. That means they have to absorb the abuse. They did the job.
We want to spend all this money to make the RL race-car like, which is contrary to the design of smooth and refined. And then complain when it wears on components not designed for those attributes? If the engine was mounted with race car engineered mounts, we'd complain it was too harsh?
Maybe there should be a budget for maintenance to balance with the mods which seem to have no limits in cost? Last time I watched a track race, it appeared to me that many, many parts were being replaced on those cars with only minutes of performance.

Its not about making the RL a race car. A few boltons definetly did not make the car a race car.
I live in the CITY which means ALOT of stop and go traffic. I just replaced the mounts last year. I don't relatively drive my car hard. I wish I live in a rural enviornment next to alot of highways and smooth roads.
THEN, im pretty sure this problem would not be so frequent. City cars always wear much faster than highway driven vehicles

I am not sure that I agree that motor mounts are a wear component, yes there is some movement but they should last for the duration of the car. BTW - a lot of us chose Honda because its life is closer to 200K than 100K and the motor mounts should be rated for 200K. I have owned a bunch of Camaros, Firebirds, Cadillacs, Fords and Toyotas and have never changed a motor mount.

Can anyone share some guidance on replacing the rear motor mount? I did the front one a couple of days ago (and the side one was replaced at the 100k/mi with the timing belt). I can see it, but how the heck do you get the unit out/new one in?
