Ugh! Wheel rash in Chicago!

The girlfriend and I went to a concert in Chicago last night at the Park West (Raul Midon, check him out, he's incredible).
We get to the venue, and spend over an hour trying to find street parking. I WANTED to park in a garage, but there weren't any nearby. So, I finally find a spot, and while trying to squeeze in, I hear it. The worst sound ever. The wheel scraping against the curb. UGH! In six years of owning my Mercedes, I never once got wheel rash! So, my otherwise flawless, two-month old RL has a damaged wheel now. It's the driver's front wheel, scratched about six inches, strictly along the edge of the rim where it meets the tire. Sure, it could have been worse, but UGH! I didn't sleep last night.

The question is, where do I go, who do I trust to fix it, here in Chicago? The dealer? A bodyshop?

Crying,
Randy

Fixing almost cost the price of the wheels, of course been OEM rims are over-priced. I would say use it as an excuse to upgrade wheels . I would never fixed any rims unless the rim cost more than $500 new. That's my way. Is you plan to upgrade in the future I wouldn't worry about it. Is not like the wheels are nice enough that people are going to noticed.

That or buy wheels on eBay from folks that upgraded to 18" wheels and are looking to sell off their old 17" ones.

Yea, I say check ebay. It is almost the same cost as getting the wheel repaired.

Sorry to hear about the damage

Definitely check EBay....I'm seeing a set of 4 rims going for $299 and that includes tires!!! Wonder if that also gets you the TPMS sensors??? Interesting!

If you just want rims, there's a set of 4 going at $100.... Definitely replace, don't fix!

Don't Feel Bad

With less than a month owning the car, a SUV kicked up a shard from an 18 wheeler tire and came across my roof. The result was a 6 inch by 2 inch scratch. No scratch-off remover for this bad boy. Only a repaint for $350. I decided to keep the original paint.

Unless you park it in the garage after buying it , crap will happen.
