Trunk Lock

After 6 years, I've always assumed the trunk lock worked a certain way, but my wife asked me a question yesterday and now I am wondering.

If you get out of the car and lock the doors, then get something out of the trunk, does the trunk "re-lock" without having to do anything? That's how I've assumed it works.

Easy enough to check, but wondering if anyone knows the answer.

I know if you unlock the doors, someone can open the trunk without the FOB. I always thought that was not right, so that is why I am wondering about this.

Well the trunk on the RL is not like a hatchback where the rear hatch is counted as a "door" (Like the RSX) It's treated as its own special door.

When the door is unlocked OR if the key fob is near when you open the trunk from the outside, it will open. I think this makes sense just fine.

Now the scenario with the door locked with the alarm on. It should open ONLY with the key fob near the vicinity of the trunk. And when you close it, that's it, it's closed.

The only thing I haven't tried is, car is running, door is locked, so no alarm(assumed in park, a check in drive would be useful also) Will the trunk open... hmmm.

I not sure I agree with you on trunk should open without FOB if doors unlock. I know it does, but I don't think logic is right. I'm ok with this being the case on a hatchback, SUV, etc. If doors are unlocked, you can get to this area without going through the Hatchback. But a car with a trunk is different. In non-keyless environent, you need key to open trunk if doors are unlocked. I expected the same with RL

Well, I guess to each his/her own. I personally like how it is, but I do get what you mean. It is a flaw in some situation.

I like the trunk on a separate circuit.

I confiormed that it works as I assumed. Lock doors, open trunk, close trunk: Cannot re-open without FOB
