so i'm on Vleds.com and I want to purchase an LED for the trunk light and i know the bulb size is 168, but what type of bulb is the best there are a lot to choose from

I used a PIAA 168 hyper white bulb (non-LED) for mine and put it up next to my friends LED bulbs, I didn't notice too much of a difference.
Most of the time, you'll find the LED to be a little bright, at least I did.

Is this the interior trunk light?
I guess you would have to remove the cover to see how the bulb is oriented. Some LEDs point downwards along the vertical axis, so you may have most of the light shining away from the trunk, into the side cover. Some LEDs try to mimic a 360 degree light in both axes as an incandescent bulb, but if there is no reflector, you lose a lot of light on the side not facing the trunk...and LEDs have precious little lumens anyway in comparison to incandescents, especially for the price.
Depending on how the bulb is oriented, you may want to try a flank light.

Let us know. Take pictures.

In which case, I can make a suggestion. You want to have the LED that points down along the vertical axis. You will want the brightest one with the largest angle in warm white or cool white, depending on the lumen output you want.
In general, the highest lumen output you can get is best. LEDs tend to put out low lumens in comparison to incandescents, unless you are dealing with newer (read "more expensive") high power SMD LEDs.
I have tried several types, and the 3 high power SMT LED per unit I like the best is no longer listed by VLED. I had judged these to give great white illumination on par with the incandescents, but they have been gone for about 3 months from the VLED site.
But this looks like its replacement. In fact, these 2w units, with 4 high power SMT LEDs per unit, are finally putting out about 3x lumens than incandescents (despite the claims on the website of being 10 times brigher)

Do not use these, you will be disappointed.

Also remember that you need to stick to the general physical envelope described by either of these units, about 28 mm tall and 11 mm in diameter. More risks not fitting in the trunk light domes, which were designed for incandescent bulbs of this size.

here are the LEDs you want at a reasonable price.
I have installed em in my RL and they provide enough light for the whole trunk. Test fitted them on a TL and all of a sudden my trunk is one LED short.
