The Takeda intake for the 3ed gen TL fits on the RL. A member has it. It's the SRI. I can find vid if you like. No one said because you have a fine luxury sedan that you can't have that aggressive sound still. The sound will def match the aggressive kit.

As you can see from my avatar, I admire your excellent taste.

The member with the very tastefully done 09 from nyc has the Takeda intake. He has youtube vid. Did you want to hear? The only vid i can say for sure is his is the 3rd one. Enjoy. His may be a tad throatier due the fact its a 3.7L but would be very close.

I gave you credit to as I figured i was you. Your car sound GLORIOUS... Was there anything he needs to do special to make this intake work? He's really missing hearing th J-series with his intake.

well for one, this instake has never been tried on a 2G RL, but it's working fine for the 3.5L TL's so I see no reason why it wouldn't for the 2G RL.

There is a huge thread about it, linked here:

This is the first I've heard of this intake. I would love to put it on, has anyone done it for our car besides 037? Also I was under the impression that there is still only a 1G and 2G RL and the 09 and 11 are just MMC no? If so this should fit our car too. Maybe I'll ask the guy at excelerate.

thanks, what sold me was someone with that intake on a 4G TL following me. When I heard that sound, I had to have it.

I personally felt no gains after installing Takeda and UR pulley. Escort GT2 chirped out 319hp when measured, but I have no measurement stock plus it's no dyno so I can't be sure.

Whatever the gains, they are not large enough to feel with the pants, I guess. Takeda is worth it for the sound alone though and I did see an improvement in gas mileage as I became more aware of my driving habits via sound. Prior to Takeda I would hit 5k rpm and not even realize.

the beauty of an intake vs exhaust is that you don't hear it unless you want to.

Takeda starts to wake up around 2500rpm, you can somewhat hear it at 3k and if you push it fast enough to 5-6k people are jumping out of the way.

Definitely very quiet in cruising situations.

The prices are in the mid to high $200's for these.

Thumbs up

That's very interesting. The Pulley "if if crank" should release 5-8 more whp stock power and 20tq from less rotational mass of the stock crank which is way heavier. this would be felt low-end. The intake more in mid-range top-end. Those vids look like your car is pulling for days. You never used that vid to measure stock? The feel thow would be less than TL due to fact that it's gotta drive 4 wheels vs. 2 so the gains are spread all over the place and depending on tq transfer. I hope that makes a little since. Tried my best to illustrate it to best of my abilities...

Did you ever get a baseling run is what i meant so you can get an idea what you gained after mods. The SH-AWD causes power to be spread all over the place vs fwd putting it all down with the front wheels so same mods will feel less than the same mod on fwd even though the gains are exactly the same.

BTW we like the same music/xm channels...

there is no baseline, the first time I ran the RL was against my TL and let's just say it didn't work out so well for the TL.

I managed to get a 5.9 0-60 on my 1st run with the GT2, I dunno if I was going downhill or what, it wasn't obvious at the time but the best I could do after that was in the low 6's and now I can't even get that...

so, fair to say my car got slower?
