From TL to RL....

I have an opprtunity to trade my '05 TL for an '06 RL A-Spec. If you have made the transition, are you happy with the decision?

Love the RL, but looking at your TL mods the RL may not be the car you would enjoy.

Good Luck with your decision

I've heard the RL described as "boring" by a few fellow TL'ers. Is that what you're referring too???

Happy Holidays,

I made the transition from the TL to the RL. I believe I made a great choice. I too had some mods on my TL however I jumped at the change to tackle another challenge. Beware the RL is more refined than the TL so the sporty feel will be gone. On the luxury and safety side you will be pleased. It’s funny since I’ve had the RL when I drive my girls TL it feel smaller than I was use to. It takes me some time to readjust but when I do I enjoy the feel of the road. Since I’ve had my RL I’m very pleased with my overall decision and be hard pressed to go back to the TL.

If you like a sporty car and you like to modify it to make it even sportier then perhaps the RL is not for you. This is what I wrote on a previous thread:

The RL is not for anyone who is looking for straight line performance, razor sharp handling and who likes to modify his/her car. I hesitate to say that the RL is an "old man's" car but I would say it is for someone who is over the performance/modification fever that affects many of us when we are in our early, mid, or late twenties. If you are in that age group and you are not over the desire to add more power, handling and/or appearance kits to your current or future rides, then do yourself a favor and do not purchase the RL, you will regret it and you will end up losing a pile of money if you decide you cannot live with it anymore because it does not satisfy your needs.

Good luck in your decision.

Thanks all, but keep the input coming 'cause this really a tough decision for me. Whatever direction I decide to go I am confident that I won't regret it. I do love my TL for all the it does but am sure that I would love the RL for the different things that it will offer.

Well, I did it...!

Thanks to all for your insight. I picked up my 2006 Premium White Pearl/Ebony RL on Saturday. And like many have mentioned, it is different from my TL (I guess its supposed to be...). Not quite as sporting as the TL is but quite a bit more comfy, and interestingly enough, pretty capable for what kind of car it is (I have the A-Spec kit minus the A-Spec wheels). It's only been a couple of days, but I am really enjoying it so far. No modifications are planned beyond a new set of wheels and tires. I guess I have gotten a lot of the "mod" fever out of my system.

Sorry, I never really mastered the art of "pic posting", but I would be glad to e-mail you a pic or two. Just IM me with your address.

Having just passed the 600 mile break-in threshold, I finally took the opportunity to "Drive" the car and have discovered that this car is deceptive in it's handling capabilities. As I researched gooing from my TL to the RL, I heard a lot of "the RL is boring" comments. However, this thing handles pretty darn well! I guess because it rides so smoothly and luxuriously, it's hard to imagine that it can handle as well as it does. I'm really loving this car
