Tired of searching threads...My drivers door lock issue seem unique

I've read that outside door handles have been replaced, door actuators replaced, battery replaced, etc., etc., etc.

It seems that my issue may be unique or maybe searching 2 hours on this site isn't enough time....

My car doors lock fine, but a year ago, the drivers door would randomly decide not to unlock with the FOB or by touching the door sensor. I would alternate between hitting the lock and unlock button and every now and then this would work to open the door but not very often. I usually find myself taking the key out of the FOB and use that to get in. As with most people, I can't duplicate the issue with the dealer after 4 visits. My dealer claims to have never heard of such an issue....

This would also happen after I stop driving. All the doors would unlock except for the drivers door. I would have to move the manual unlock button on the door to get out.

Does my issue seem to be more in line with one of the above referenced problems or could it be something else? I would hate to just start replacing stuff without really knowing which fix is the right one.

If this EXACT issue has been discussed before and I overlooked it, please send along the tread. Thanks.

Maybe try and change the settings so all doors unlock with one press of button or by touching drivers handle and then switch back maybe that will trigger something.. If not you may have a faulty actuator.. But these are just guesses and with probs like this that's all you can really do, so of this wasn't much help.. Goodluck

If you're handy, you can follow the troubleshooting steps offered in the repair manual. There is a section for troubleshooting the driver's side lock.

I suppose my first guess would be to replace the FOB batteries and reprogram the FOB for Driver 1 and Driver 2.

Does the car on the speedo say "Hello Driver 1" or "Hello Driver 2?"

I would turn off the auto lock/unlock feature, it sounds like its exasperating a failing actuator.

My Acura does recognize Driver 1 and Drive 2 when the car is started with either one.

I replaced my batteries in each FOB so that shouldn't be the issue.

This afternoon I changed the auto door lock feature to "unlock" and also changed the unlock setting to "unlock all doors" instead of just the drivers door. I hope this works.

Just curius does the sensor that recognizes the FOB ever go out? It's probably unrelated but when I start my car and get out while its still running (FOB left in the car), when I get back in and shut the door, the dash flashes that it doesn't recognize the FOB. When it first started doing this, I could open and slamm my door and it would then recognize the FOB. Now, the only way to reset this is to shut the car down and restart it. Does this issue seem related the the drivers door not unlocking? If so, would the slamming of the door mean the door actuator COULD be the culprit for possibly both issues?

Thanks for the help so far!

Did you follow the resync steps on the back of the remote?

I haven't re-synced the remotes but the dealer did that last last year when my car wasn't recognizing either remote.

Should I do it again?

Where do you keep the keys? I have had unlocking issues and fob recognition issues many times, but I keep my keys next to my phone. Anything with an antenna will disrupt the signal, and power cords in the car can do the same.

How do your locks work when using the lock switch on the door? Driver's side and passenger's side? When you manually lock the driver lock next to the handle all doors should lock. Test these out to see if you can eliminate the fob and get a flakey response.

These were the symptons I experienced when my driver door power lock actuator went south. I knew it was going as it also groaned when locking or unlocking.

Mine was replaced under my AcuraCare warranty.

I almost always throw my keys in the passenger seat or cup holder. I have been told that my cell phone power cord could bed the culprit but I thought that sounded bogus. Since I need to charge my phone, I will have to live with this issue for now.

I have been in and out of the car quite a bit the last few days and the drivers door lock won't open up with the FOB at all now. From what TampaRL experienced, I think the actuator is the issue. I do remember a groaning noise that I noticed for the past year. I'm well out of warranty with my RL so does anyone know where I can buy one?

I am not sure what year your RL is, but for my 2006 RL it was this part:

72150-SJA-A04 LATCH ASSY., L. FR. DOOR POWER

Mine was covered under warranty, but I remember the cost was about $140.

The service record also notes a circuit test was performed.

I already had oemacuraparts up looking at suspension prices. I wouldn't have gone out of my way otherwise.

And no, not buying. Unless someone wants to buy me the MMC cup holder/shifter trim. We could trade.
