Great idea, but I want to spend under 3k for the used car and keep it around for days when it is really with the snow so I can drive it and not worry about the IS.

The price is preety good, that's very interesting.........I need to stop by the Lexus dealer to check out the IS.

I have an older accord that is very realiable you could probably get one for 3K however I don't know how the market is up there.

I am looking at a 1991 LS400 with 192k miles. Temp display is out and the radio doesn't work. Front suspension needs some work, probably in another 10k miles or so. $2450. I am thinking about picking it up, thoughts?

I don't know if the '91 LS will be very good in the snow. Also, anything 15 years old is going to have maintenance costs involved. FWD or AWD is preferable as a winter beater.

I would stay away from buying anything. If you really need a car just rent one, you can use www.sidestep.com to find rates as low as $22.99 a day (at least for my area). Also just rent from M-F.
Let's say 20 days for $22.99 would be about $460 until the end of the month. Also remember it would be worries free. Just my .02 cents. You might save on gas as well, at least $50, since it would be 4 cylinder.

A LS400 will only work well in the snow if you have winter tires installed. I have a '92, which I have driven with no problems in 8+ inches of snow with winter tires.

Somebody bought that LS before I had a chance to make a decision anyways. I am just going to rent a car like andrewgg2 mentioned. Thanks for that site - I will look at it now.

Traded my RL in today!!! They gave me $39K on trade in Went home with a Fully Loaded 2006 Black SRT-8 Charger. The car is a blast and then some

This board has been great and I hope to find a similar community for the SRT-8.

Congrats on the purchase. Be sure to post pics somewhere around here. Hope you still visit once in a while!

What did you end up doing with the wheels you bought?

Congrats on the new ride - it will definitely be a totally different driving experience from the RL.

Wow! What a switch! I've always had thoughts of returning to a Mustang Shelby I owned many years ago. The sensations I felt and the fun I had with that car are still vivid in my mind. I can see how someone could do something like you just did - it makes sense to me.

Thanks! The car has almost every option that I [keyword] USED in the RL, plus 125 more horsepower and the ability to be modified and taken to the drag strip and AutoX/SCCA events... plus haul rear passengers with ample room. I do not regret selling my Z06 allocation spot and saving $40K by getting this car

Congratulations on your new car! But paying 40K+ for DODGE is CRAZY, even if it has 125 HP more that the RL. What is the gas mileage on this 6.1L? 9MPG?

Vik,

Dude! I haven't been keeping track of this thread...you bought an IS350? Sweet!

If Lexus added AWD to the IS350 sometime I would think of trading in for it. Love the RL but I am a Lexus guy and the IS350 is a damn kick ass car even if it is smaller inside than the old IS which I had for 4.5 years. hehe

Yup! I was hoping for an AWD 350, but I doubt it will come for another year or two.

Sorry for the delay in pictures. I was helping my oldest son move to Miami, Florida. Here are the pics (the front plate was straightened after the picture, the salesman had installed it when I picked it up at night).

So far the car was worth every bit of what I paid. The bluetooth and NAV is so much easier to use!

I do not mean to put you down in anyway, but you have traded RL for this? I see zero class in this, nothing stands out from this car for me! I take my "RL on steroids" any day over this. I would take IS350 over this anyday, if I was looking for speed. Sorry, just my opinion.

I understand the move perfectly. It's about excitement! I love my RL but I also need an exciting car to drive and my NSX fills that need. If I were forced to have only one car I would choose the NSX. The RL is fantastic as my daily driver and I would not buy anything else with four doors at any price to replace it, but, there is something about driving a sports car or one of the muscle cars of the 60s, early 70s that is sooo satisfying. I remember my Challenger with fondness too. I believe this is what WhitePearl is after and that is why he was also considering a ZO6 - it looks like a perfectly logical move to me.

Agreed. Agreed.

Quite a shift in philiosophy. That SRT is one UGLY piece of metal. But TOTALLY in "the right way".

As you know, downunder we won't be getting the RL (Legend) till at least mid 2006. I have been following these boards with interest for about 8 months, and learnt quite a bit. Some times too much ;-)

Much as I love GOOD Jap 6cyl engineering, I think - at this point in my life (read: "mid life crisis"), I too will be looking for that little extra "wow" factor in the daily driver.

http://www.carsfromitaly.com/alfaromeo/index.html

We don't have the Infinity range AT ALL, so I'm seriously considering the Alfa Romeo Brera as my next car (currently Eunos 800m, the one with the Miller Cycle engine - nice Jap engineering.

Happy motoring.

Received the new Motor Trend last week. There were pictures of the Dodge Challenger and it looks great. This is a concept car but would be nice if they would put it into production. Can't say the same about the Chrysler Imperial that was in there also.

Thanks for all the comments. I am enjoying the car so far. It makes 15mpg in the city, which is not bad compared to the 17mpg the RL made... and this car is 3.1 liters more engine. I will post interior pics soon

Good to hear that you like your new car. WOW your RL did 17 mpg in the city? My does about 19 mpg in the city. Also I belive your new car has 14 mpg in the city. So the difference is 5 mpg.
Just step on the gas and you will get more like 9 mpg with 6.1 L.

The Cadillac Deville with the "landau" roof in the pictures says it all.

Firebird, Caddy, and RL isn't a good match. Charger fits better.
