system reset??

has anyone ever gone into the system dianostics menu and reset the system?? If you did, did it also erase all passcodes? Reason why im asking is that when i try and push the talk/phone button on the steering wheel it says its passcode locked and wants the passcode? I just got this 05 RL like 4weeks ago. I want to push the system reset but im nervous it will mess up something or setting. Can anyone help??

I had the same problem with my pre-owned 06 but I was locked out of everything. Because I purchased from a dealer the clearing of any existing codes was done by them at no charge. Somewhere along the way I either read or heard that this must be done by a dealer.

This process must be done at the dealer for obvious security reasons. The previous owner didn't reset the system password.

Unless you can track-down the previous owner......and he's willing to give-up his code.
