Symbol Names?
I was out washing the RL before dark and was wondering what RL might stand for? "Real Luxury"? Anyone know what the symbols for Acura represent? (TL, TSX, RL, etc)

Only the TL has ever been officially defined by Acura
Touring Luxury
The others are speculation. I believe I once saw an Acura document say that the RL was 'refined luxury' but I cannot find it anywhere in their press information.

Not true Ken. NSX stood for New Sportscar eXperimental.
Anyway, every article from 1996 that reviewed the then 3.5RL said that it stood for "Refined Luxury." The TL was supposed to be "Touring Luxury" and the CL was "Coupe Luxury." Like Ken, I can't find any official Acura source but it can be hard to find something from 15 years ago. I have a feeling it was official at some point or so many reviews wouldn't be parroting the same info.
Since then Acura has altogether backed off from them meaning anything at all.
Maybe I just know the lineup better, but Acura's names could be a lot worse. Have you taken a look at Lincoln's lineup recently? MKT, MKS, MKX, MKZ... I have no idea which one is which.

A long time ago, 1996 I think, you will find Road and Track test, I think referring to RL=Refined Luxury as opposed to the TL=Touring Luxury, but the tongue in cheek review said, Acura really meant Relaxed Luxury, because that was the car characteristics...very relaxed.
