St Petersburg Honda Grand Prix
Greetings from the St Pete Honda Grand Prix....
When I visited the Paddock today the Acura Real Time TSX team had just arrived,,,,in an Acura RL (2005-2008)! Way to go. I got some pics up close of the two turbo 4 TSXs, including the interior. The crew were very welcoming and professional. Not so much so for some of the other GT teams.
I watched them at time trials today at the St Pete Grand Prix. The two cars were driven very consistently.
On the track in this GT class were were the two TSXs, an older Integra, Civic Si (hatchback), two Scion TCs, two Vipers, two Corvettes, two Nissan GTRs, two Volvo S40s, and a Mazda RX8.
The F1's were really flying as the weather was clear warm and dry. Danica was out in the Paddock and she nearly caught my elbow whizzing by on her scooter.
Acura's presence as Acura Sportscar Challenge is all but gone. In previous years, this was a Honda & Acura event, now almost all promotions are Honda only. No Acura Yacht Club this year (but still in the marina with a wonderful view of the course around us). They did have a Honda and an Acura display. I love the white CR-Z they have there. Not so much the CrossTour. At the Acura display I checked out the ZDX. The seats, console, dash and features are all that appeal to me. The vehicle is largely unusable considering it's size, bulk and efficiency-it is all about style, and well you all well know how I feel about Acura's current styling camp. That had a nice red V6 TSX....sticker $38,950. The full fleet is now dynamic power phlegm. (please explain to me how a static piece of garish grille trim is 'dynamic'?). As much as I enjoy attending Grand Prix every year...it is ever so obvious that Acura has become an afterthought and the deserved red-head step child of Honda.
Great day and it was very well attended. A bit sun burnt (we nearly hit 80F today!) Back onboard, shower up and cool down before attending tonight's festivities.

Apologies, Kirby. I have gotten confused between Indycar series annd F1s before. The number of cylinders alone should keep me spot on. Thanks for pointing it out. I am still learning the differrent classes of vehicles.
