A-spec upgrade

I am considering getting an 06 RL. I really like the looks of the A-spec kit. Especially the wheels and the rear spoiler. The upgraded suspension system at the moment I don't care about. At least I don't think I care about it. The dealer I am working with currently has an A-Spec in stock in my color with a $57,910 sticker price.

Do you think I would be better off tying to negotiate on that one or getting a stock model and adding the A-Spec features I want. Additionally, should this be done before or after the sale? I think I could negotiate a base model for $45. I think I could use this auction as leverage http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brand...QQcmdZViewItem. All I would have to do is pay for having the vehicle shipped to KY.

I would say that the a-spec will probably end up costing you about $4,600 installed if you buy it later. So maybe you can use that as a figure (and the auction) and ask for that RL for $49-50k.

The body it is $1080 on ebay (all withotu shipping0
Wheels and tires roughly $2400 (make sure if you get this from the dealer, that they give you the stock wheels and tires also - then you can use them in the winter, if you are in an area that snows) or you can sell them on ebay.
The suspension is $600
Figure around $600 for installation. (I paid 600 for installation of the a-spec on my TL when I had it - but they had to install the steering wheel also. So maybe $500 for installation on the RL, because there is no a-spec steering wheel)

Installation will cost you a lot more than $600.
My TL A-SPEC installation cost me $800.00 and don't forget the difference between these two cars as the RL is all wheel drive and there are issues with allaignment, balancing and the RL is more complicated than the TL.
You'll definately pay at least $1100. I paid $1300 for mine.

I paid $600 for my TL, but you are right, the RL is more complicated, but I wouldnt say $1100. Seems like a rip to me. I would rather go to a reliable mechanic or body shop.

I think that the side underbody spoilers are not too hard to install, so potentially you could do it your self and save some $$$. Front & Rear is complicated, because it requires cutting. I am not sure about suspension kit.

After considering everything I have decided to buy the A-Spec that the dealer has in stock. I think I am getting a reasonable price on the vehicle. After owning my own company for 13 years I have learned that we all need to make money. I didn't want to beat the dealer down too much on price. I expect him to make a profit on the car and be able to provide me with exceptional service for many years in the future.

The front underbody lip is actually the easiest to install and doesn't take more than 20 minutes, it just like the lip in the S2000.
Side and rear and a little hard. Body kit instalation cost $200.00 and suspension was over $900. over 5 hours labor job.

Qatar - did they do an alignment as part of that quote? My dealer had not done an alignment on my TL when they did the a-spec. They did, however, end up doing it a few weeks later at no charge becuase they originally told me I didn't need it, but the alignment was off. I forgot about that

BTW, did you the trunk fixed from teh camera?

I got my RL back last week.
I've had the loaner vehicle for 6 weeks.
I'm glad to have my RL back because the TSX was so under powered.

My Uncle has the RL A-Spec and although it's a pretty penny, it's well worth the smooth ride.
