Looks like my dealer gave me a 3 months trial even on a used car.
Can the RL have the Traffic service from Siriusxm?
My SiriusXM worked for a few minutes, I did something dunno what it is, either bluetooth phone call, or switched to AUX sound, then, once back to sirius xm, no more sound. Channels are all there, no sound.
Probably need to refresh the signal. Yes you can have the 3 months free on a used vehicle. If traffic is available for your year, yes it will be included free

Negative, XM NavTraffic is an extra cost last time I inquired.
3mo trial comes with the NavTraffic. Just simply press the voice recognition button and say "Display Traffic" then it'll display on the navi.
It's very often when you turn on the car it won't display so just repeat the process above and it'll show again. To turn off traffic just do the same process.
I used XM Radio every single day and I love it. However I've realized lately they don't update their radio list very often lol. Every day I go to work I listen to the same songs at the same time so it can get a bit repetitive.
I also checked yesterday they said traffic isn't included in the trial. But they also told me that my car was not equipped for traffic, while their .com lists the RL as equipped with traffic.
I went out to test what JJones91 said but my list of display options doesn't include 'traffic'.
I feel it's some upgrade disc i'm missing.
Sound is back tho. on its own. But this traffic options would come in handy if i can get it to work.

That's a bit odd, because I'm running the 3mo trial right now as well as the OnStar trial (not that it's useful at all).
But yeah man that's a bit weird, did you actually try saying "Display traffic"?

I got a 3 month trial twice because I called to say it never worked the first time... BOTH times my NavTraffic worked (for free) during the trial period
$10 says it's not just software then. There a good number of hardware differences between domestic markets. If you want it bad enough, you could procure USDM parts one at a time and see which one is limiting you. That is unless the limitation is on the signal provider's side.
Isn't there a way to find out simply what is missing?
i'm considering calling another dealer tomorrow, as well as calling a US dealer.
Also, we got an Armenian car electrician in town that usually knows details few ppl know.
I went to activate the XM in my used '10 MDX with Sirius/XM that I recently bought, and they told me that I had a free, 3 month trial. XM NavTraffic was included in the 3 month trial. After the 3 months, I got a reduced rate for a year's worth of service, but they would NOT reduce the rate for Traffic/Weather, which originally they said was $7.50/month, but then told me that for the '10 MDX, it was $10 a month. Needless to say, I no longer have Traffic/Weather...
Monopolies are never good. Now howard stern costs extra fees too and and other prime channels left.
My only interest in it is traffic. But i'd pay a bit more and get a couple of gigs of mobile data, and simply put an ipod in there with loads of internet radio channels.
The merger between xm and sirius hurt that niche industry more than saved it.

I believe there is an AcuraLink module. Do you have one of those?
You could bring up two catalogs, one at oemacuraparts.com for USDM, and one for CADM (at a Canadian parts website) and compare part numbers. If there is a hardware difference, the number will reflect it.
Prior to upgrading the PCM on early-production 2009 Acura RL and TSX, the AcuraLink Update Connector must be disconnected.
On some 2009 RL and TX vehicles, an AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) communication error requires that you disconnect the AcuraLink control unit 5P update connector before performing a PCM update. If the AcuraLink update connector is not disconnected, the PCM may not accept the update, or the engine may not start after the update.
Affected vehicles include the 2009 RL (with Tech Package) from VIN JH4KB266.9C000001 through JH4KB266.9C002248; 2009 TL (with Tech Package) from VIN 19UUA86..9A000001 through 19UUA86..9A006232; and 2009 TSX (with Tech Package) from VIN JH4CU2…9C000001 through JH4CU2…9C033097.
