single midpipe

Hi all I was looking at the stock exhaust and planning on customizing it. I know the tls shares the same engine and yet it has a single center pipe then splits to dual. I was thinking of doing the same with a 3 inch center pipe split to dual. Any exhaust guys out there know why the RL has dual and TL single when same engine? My thoughts were pulley to keep it quiet. I think a smooth transition from j pipe to 3 inch single back to y pipe and dual out. Any disadvantages to this??

That's dual all the way. Which is okay I guess. But y not just one 3 inch pipe after j pipe to the split?

Because the RL is/was the flagship.
The RL received LOTS of different (better) things than the TL.

Also, the RL is AWD. the TL is only FWD.
exhaust needed to be designed different to accommodate the two.

I am all for innovation. Just remember you are changing the air flow out of a stock engine that is computer monitored/controlled/tuned.

No. That is two pipes into a single space with two pipes out, a.k.a. "X-pipe". It is not true dual. IIUC, the purpose is to equalize the pressure for all cylinders.

Still, my original question hasn't been answered. Say wha? Can you include some diagrams or pictars for us to ogle? Your explanation is confusing to say the least.

Why? would be my first question. If you had a single 3" pipe wouldn't the overall diameter be less than the dual pipe setup that's in there now? Also I haven't done much research into the exhaust for the RL soooo yeaa.
