SHAWD Alterations

Not like I would do this, but can the computer be reprogrammed to make the RL a full time rear-wheel drive car?

Probably, but it's probably more trouble than it's worth.

I think it would be very complicated and costly. The RL has more than one component working the SH-AWD than just a computer. There are many sensors involve. You might be able to increase the ratio from 30:70 to 0:100 someday, but not full time.

I think a 30:70 split is not conservative. Honda techs did have performance in mind when developing SH-AWD. I don't know of any other car at 4k lbs that can corner as good as the RL.

I can't wait until they unleashed the TL with 6-speed and SH-AWD at about 3.5k lbs.

The TL now weights 3472 lb, but with some need technology and more aluminum etc. I think they can manage a TL with SH-AWD at about 3.5k - 3.6k lbs

Keep in mind, the RL is ALWAYS driving the front wheels. You'd have to add magnetic clutches to the FRONT as well so that the front wheels could be disengaged from the engine.

So.. yes it can be done on a computer.. but would take some serious hardware work.

Keep in mind, the RL is much roomier, much larger than all but the M.

By that measure, I guess we can say the RL is kinda like a Murcielago. Obviously, it is not.
