SH-AWD/VSA error message
...Soooooo it happened on my '05. 16 times in the last 6 days to be exact.
Hasn't stranded me on the side of the road or anything like that... even made a trip to Laughlin and back (600 miles round trip) with no issues.
When the warning signals, the AWD system goes into a "limp" mode and only sends power to the front wheels. The difference is noticeable immediately... but once again, the car is completely driveable and otherwise functions as normal.
It doesn't happen everytime I drive the car, but due to the frequency, I have noticed some quirks about the issue. There seems to be some connection with the braking system. The first few times it happened, I was slowing to a stop and wasn't going more than about 5mph. Recently, it has been happening when I start the car. If my foot is on the brake when I turn the ignition, the warning will flash immediately. If my foot is not on the brake, it "waits" until I press the brake pedal. Besides that, there is no real rhyme or reason.
If I start the engine and the warning isn't on (yet,) everything seems normal. The car doesn't skip a beat... just like nothing ever happened (yet.)
I've seen a few others post about this issue recently and a search in the RL forums turned up a goldmine of info so I'll feed all of that plus my personal experiences with the dealer and see what we can come up with. I'll be dropping the car off tomorrow but I'm sure it will be a few days before I get it back. Wish me luck!!!
