Exclamation SH-AWD and VSA

2006 RL just "achieved" 100K - time to put some preventative $ in. I started with a transmission flush and oil change with tire rotation. The day after picking it up, the VSA and SH-AWD lights came on and the rear-wheel drive disengaged. If I turn the car off and back on, sometimes the lights stay off and the car is fine. The problem occurs intermittantly with no pattern. I finally returned to the service place a week later and they diagnosed a failed YAW sensor...big $ to fix....and, BTW, no connection to the transmission service/tire rotation -just coincidence..hmm . I've read a few threads and it seems that the YAW sensor reads input from the wheel sensors...so, if the tires were rotated, well..is the YAW faulty or is the data going in faulty? Help...I was just about to do the timing belt next!

How old is the battery? My car will do this if parked for a few days in very cold temps. Changed battery does not happen anymore

So I suspected the battery

Yea, I read a few threads here that suggested a mid2low battery will plague the RL....my battery isn't that old (2 years?) and I guess I kinda thought the disengaging of the rear wheel drive would be less electrical-related and more conditions-related/sensor-related....but, hey...I'll put a new battery in and see. Thanks - I'll be back....

The battery is not the culprit. Still seems crazy that this problem started the day after the tranny was flushed, tires rotated, fluids checked. Any other suggestions? YAW sensors are expensive.

did you install a new battery or just have the battery checked out? also did you have the rear diff serviced there are 2 chambers that need to be drained and filled. also make sure you have proper level of transmission fluid. i would go back to the shop that performed the service and go over everything with them

The battery was checked by the shop that did the work and they assured me that it was nearly perfect. However, since that visit to have it checked, the lights have not come on and has remained in AWD no problem (5 days now problem-free). Maybe they checked their work without me asking. I can only hope that this is actually a problem that disappeared. I'll look into the fluid levels for sure since timing belt comes next.
