SH-AWD active in 1st gear

Hi Gang:

From various sources I've read that the SH-AWD is _supposedly_ not active in 1st gear on 05-08 RL's. However, while playing in snow/ice and "off-road" the SH-AWD system clearly DOES function in 1st gear on my '07. I'm just wondering why Honda/Acura seem to imply the opposite??

tnx

I've never read anything about SH-AWD NOT being active in 1st gear. There may be some sort of reduction in torque transfer in 1st gear vs. higher gears though.

Wikipedia (which is never wrong ...): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SH-AWD

I read a post here at AZ about the same thing, but I've not found it (again) via search. Who knows, maybe everyone is parroting an incorrect Wiki article...

Of course, I could probably try reading the tech manual, too.

That is such a minimal detail of that entire explanation that I can say with confidence it is wrong. Maybe, just maybe, this was stated in the preliminary press releases of the system and someone just applied it to the first gen RL since it debuted there. However, I know my '07 had rear wheel power in 1st.

Theres alot of contradictions in that article. I say fuk it, dont loose sleep over that. I welcome any 07+ to compare their car to my 05 in a snow drift to clear things up.
