scratched rear bumper?

Wife closed the garage door with the RL sticking out a bit!! Handle at bottom of garage door scratched the bumper right down the middle, about 1/8 to 1/4 in deep!! Any suggestions how to smooth out and then retouch the scratched area (only about 1/8 inch wide by 4 inches long)? I do have the touch up paint from Acura to use.

Thanks! And no, I didn't hit my wife!!

Thank goodness it was only the bumper, which can be repainted easily. If it was on the body metal of the car...now that would be a headache.

Going to be very difficult to fix a scratch that deep yourself as you'll have to fill, sand, and try to match sprayed on paint with touch up. Best with a body shop. If insurance isn't paying, offer cash...they'll probably do it for less.

Kind of like when my son closed the garage door when the hatch of my MDX was open...just a few days after I got it. Nice straight line, right down the middle of the hatch.
