Anyone else on here with a J-pipe experiencing a rattle noise/vibration between 15-2k rpms at low speeds? it goes away once you go over 2k's in revs.

thanks must be something else causing it. i guess i will have to put back the stock one and head to the dealer to figure this one out.

 

check all your heat shields and bolts while you are under there

 

i have a rattle when i start the car and around the rpm you mentioned....but it goes away after a few min....i dont remember having it until after the j pipe too...

i have a rattle at low speeds too. i think its something lose. i dont have a j pipe yet. would love to get one though.

 

there's a little trick to install the rv6 jpipe without rattle.

when installing; slide a piece of cardboard between the J's.
its the two pipes coming off the pre-cats.
then tighten everything down and remove card board.


if tightening without cardboard in place; the two pipes just rub against each other

 

thanks justnspace i will try a reinstall with your tip and see if it works.

 

put it on the lift and rev to see where that rattle is coming from. i have the j -pipe no rattles here. fit and finish is perfect.

 

I'm trying to get ahold of Richie to get this fabled j-pipe. Sent a couple of messages and no answer yet.

Gonna have to wait a while i contacted him said he was going on vacation but who ever else was there would assist me in getting my j pipe. Sent 2 emails and have called 3 times no reply.....

I'm experiencing the same thing. I figure it's a loose heat shield or something.

 

no rattle.

 

When I got my radiator replaced, tech also noticed the rattle. Turned out to be the upper rear cat heat shield. 2 clamps and now the rattle is gone.
